We offer some questions to consider for your personal security
What actions have kept you secure during past abuse? If escape is needed, think: Where can you seek refuge?
Educate Your Children:
Teach them not to get in the middle of the abuse. Teach them where to run when the abuse begins. Teach who to call when an incident emerges. Show them a safe escape route..
If you call the Police:
Note the officer's details, show injuries, record case info, and request notifications if the offender is released. Ask for a restraining order and inform the officer about the incident, including all spoken words, especially if a weapon was involved.
Report a violent incident:
Call the police to file a report at home, or visit the station. Keep records of report details and contacts.
